I’m finally back! At our local demo this last weekend, I found out that people I don’t know actually read my blog! And notice when I haven’t updated in awhile. I’ve been very busy, making and doing so many things. I just haven’t taken the time to come here and show you everything–so here I am again! My wool Frankendress is completely finished, and it’s looking pretty good.

The Frankendress in action, with my wool “fur” lined gollar. I plan on remaking the gollar to a more fitted shape and size. The wulsthaube is not looking its best this day…
I’ve also made a pouch with pouchlets in green leather (salvaged from a Goodwill skirt), which you can see me wearing with the dress. My apprentice belt completes the look. I will take some more detailed pictures of the finished pouch soon. I will be making another pouch using a lovely soft thin leather (1-2 oz, probably). I made braies for my husband, who has a 13th century German persona. Using Mistress Aenor’s braies pattern, I used about 1 1/2 yards of mid-weight white linen:

The braies are tied up with a waist garter which is wrapped twice around his waist, with the top part (called the coulisse) of the braies tied and rolled down over it.
The ends of the legs, which are left partially open at the bottom of each leg seam, are tied up as in this picture:
I made my first pair of shoes using a pattern I made using a sock and duct tape, the Stepping Through Time book, and my Laurel and her husband (also a Laurel!):

They still need heel stiffeners, a nailed-on sole, and an insole insert. I will be painting them purple and gold.
Finally, you wouldn’t believe the geek-gasm I had when I learned about this stuff:

“bikini” style drawers found in Lengberg castle in East Tyrol, Austria. Carbon dating proves they are 15th century. Researchers believe they are men’s underwear. I believe they could have been for a woman during her menses. Just look at all those layers!
I have completed the drawers, completely hand-sewn over a lovely relaxing weekend at Sebec Lake with friends. I will post pictures of them soon.
The bra is my next project–now I get to learn sprang, which is thought to have been between the two cups.

I’m glad you’re back- those shoes are awesome!
I’ve uploaded some photos from the Fort Knox demo fashion show that include a couple fun ones of your latest gown. Feel free to use them if you want, or contact me if you want any removed. Also, if you have any info to add to the descriptions of some of the outfits, you can add it in the comments. I had forgotten a lot of the details by the time I got around to uploading (and some of the information was hard to hear at the time).
